Mohamed Salah Extends Regret to Liverpool Dressing Room, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has shared that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the group of players in the wake of the uproar from his recent interview.
What Happened
He was omitted from a key Champions League match after criticising the club and suggesting his rapport with Arne Slot had broken down.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”
The head coach has chosen not to comment publicly on whether he was apologised to from the veteran striker.
Team Unity
The player stated that the squad's reaction was unchanged. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and it was business as usual,” he continued.
Jones also suggested that a teammate fighting for a place is a positive trait. “I understand there are certain ways you can handle situations,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just be on the bench, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Positive Results
Liverpool's form have been impressive in the period after the initial controversy. The player is convinced the forward's comments were not intended to cause disruption.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a good place,” the midfielder stated. “We’re past that now and we’re building chemistry, getting results and on a positive run.”
